Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is Japanese kanji meaning ‘Universal Life Energy’. Rei meaning universal and Ki – life force energy. It is an ancient healing method which promotes stress reduction, relaxation and healing. We all have Ki or life force energy flowing through our meridians and chakras as well as around us in a field of energy known as the aura.

When Ki flows freely and is in balance we are in perfect health. Often the energy flow is disrupted and that causes dis-ease in the body. Reiki is a technique which restores the flow of Ki (life force energy).

Reiki is not aligned to any belief or religion and can therefore assist in healing people from all cultures, religions and races.

How does it work?

The Reiki practitioner channels the energy through the hands to the receiver’s body and aura by placing their hands lightly on or just above the body in a sequence of positions. Reiki is not just for someone who is ill, but is also perfect for recharging your batteries. The benefits of Reiki are limitless. The energy goes where it is most needed whether it’s physical, mental or emotional; even assisting in spiritual growth.
Reiki can never harm because it is power, light and love and is always intended for the recipients greater good.

Reiki treats the source and not just the symptom of dis-ease. The Reiki practitioner is the channel for the energy but the receiver has a responsibility to participate in the healing process by choosing to be healed or not. It complements other treatments and because Reiki energy goes exactly to where it is needed a Reiki practitioner does not diagnose illness or prescribes medication. It is not recommended to discontinue medication or treatments as prescribed by your doctor. We can all work together to help you feel happier, healthier and whole – that is the holistic approach!

What to expect during a session:

Treatments are a wonderfully relaxing experience, and the recipient remains fully clothed throughout the session. People report feelings of pulsating heat some feel cold, tingling sensations, most people enter a state of complete calm and relaxation. It is important to remember that our bodies didn’t get into a state of dysfunction overnight so we cant expect to recover overnight. Although the benefits of Reiki can be felt straight away we must remember that healing takes commitment and time and there are no quick fixes.

How many sessions do you need?

Three or four sessions over a fourteen day period is recommended initially to remove entrenched energy blocks. Then once a week or once every two weeks until the issue has resolved. Dis-ease generally begins in the energy field so if we keep our subtle bodies healthy using Reiki, and our physical bodies healthy with good nutrition and exercise, we should be able to remain active and whole.
